Teens in residence at St. Vincent Home for Children are learning some important life lessons during their stay with us. Part of our program includes "service learning". There are real lessons to be learned from helping others--and not just being the recipient of "help". While our youth were a bit skeptical at first, they quickly discovered that lending a helping hand to others in need can be rewarding and even fun!
They have visited an adult day care center where they delivered Easter baskets and spent some time talking and singing with the other adults. More recently, they helped out at the local food pantry unloading items from a truck and sorting and packaging bread for distribution to families in need. We will continue to offer opportunities for community service as it is part of helping our kids on the road to becoming good citizens and productive members of our community.
