Some Volunteer opportunities
-
Visiting Resource - A visiting resource serves as a mentor for one of our residents-providing him or her with a consistent, positive role model. We ask that all visiting resources be at least twenty one years of age and meet with the child a minimum of two times per month. They should demonstrate the following attributes: stable lifestyle, self-confidence, emotional maturity and responsible judgment, good general health, ability to be a positive role model, stable employment history, ability to establish and sustain close relationships, no serious emotional or psychological problems and ability to accept responsibility and to follow through. A visiting resource will work within the agency's policies and guidelines.
-
Recreation Volunteers - Adults are invited to participate with the children in outdoor/indoor activities, as well as share their talents and hobbies in visual/performing arts. Volunteers can also help as a coach for one of St. Vincent's athletic opportunities (basketball, soccer, kickball, track and field, etc...).
-
Maintenance Volunteer - Help tackle a small but important project around the Home, or provide your talents on an ongoing basis in the areas of gardening, renovation, etc...
-
Special Events Volunteer- Assist with planning our events prior to and on the day of the special event like our annual Kookin' for Kids, Golf for Children Tournament and other events.
Recent Volunteer Projects
On September 11th, 2010 the United Way of Greater St. Louis spearheaded a project that brought over 1,000 local volunteers together for a day of service and remembrance of our heroes. St. Vincent Home for Children was proud to serve as a host location for this project! Nine volunteers from GenNext and SLU came out to help pull weeds and clean up the activities course on what turned out to be a beautiful day! The volunteers worked very hard to make the area perfect for our kids, and for that we are so grateful.
We thank you for all of your hard work and dedication to St. Vincent Home for Children and the United Way!
